For Players, Coaches, Managers, Parents, Supporters, Officials

Playing sports is essential for the overall development of children, encompassing physical, social and emotional aspects. Encouraging young athletes, to embody the values of good sportsmanship, is essential for parents, coaches and officials. Additionally, adults involved in sports must lead by example, demonstrating fairness, respect and self-control. Above all, we must keep it fun!
Greystanes FC is committed to ensuring a safe environment for players of every age and their families. We have a zero-tolerance policy towards aggressive, threatening or inappropriate behaviour exhibited by members, their families, friends or other sports personnel at any game or event whether at home games or away games.

Player | Coach | Manager
Before the commencement of the season, it is mandatory for players, coaches and managers to agree and adhere to the set of obligations while representing Greystanes FC, regardless of whether they are playing at home or away.
Your Commitment
All players representing Greystanes FC have a responsibility to display high standards of behaviour and abide by this Code of Behaviour.
Through your registration you have committed to:
- exercise due care and have proper regard for the safety of yourself and others at all times
- undertake activity in accordance with the rules for your competition
- wear the correct football boots and protective equipment, shin pads
- always halt the game if a player is injured
- report all accidents and immediately inform an official if First Aid is required
- always abide by the laws, rules and spirit of the game
- behave in a controlled and respectful manner at all times
- treat opponents with respect at all times
- avoid rough or unnecessarily physical play
- set a positive example for others, particularly young players and supporters.
- accept the decision of the Referee without protest
- never use threatening words or behaviour against opposing players, Referees or club officials
- never use or threaten to use violence against opposing players, Referees or club officials
- refrain from using foul language, and smoking/vaping on the premises.
- respect the facility and report any damage
- equipment and goalposts are provided for sporting use only and should not be misused
Non-Compliance
Greystanes FC has zero tolerance in relation to abuse or bad behaviour towards Referees and Club Officials. Individuals can expect disciplinary action for offences in this regard to be harsh.
Our Commitment
Our club is committed to providing a safe environment for participation. In the best interest of our Players and the club, it is expected that our Coaches and Managers will:
- place the safety and welfare of the participants above all else
- remember that junior players participate for pleasure and winning is only part of the fun
- be reasonable in your demands on players’ time, energy and enthusiasm
- operate within the rules and spirit of the game and teach your players to do the same
- ensure that the time players spend with you is a positive experience. All junior players are deserving of equal attention and opportunities
- avoid overplaying the talented players, everyone needs and deserves equal time
- ensure that equipment and facilities meet safety standards and appropriate to the age and ability of all players
- display control, respect and professionalism to all involved with the sport. This includes opponents, coaches, managers, officials, parents and spectators. Encourage your players to do the same
- show concern and caution toward sick or injured players. Follow the advice of a physician when determining whether an injured player is ready to recommence training or competition
- wherever practical, avoid unaccompanied and unobserved one-on-one activity with people under the age of 18
- any physical contact with a junior player should be appropriate to the situation and necessary for the player’s development
- Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every young person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion
- act with integrity and objectivity, and accept responsibility for your decisions and actions
Our Commitment
Our club is committed to providing a safe environment for participation. Aggressive, threatening or other inappropriate behaviour by members, their families, their friends, and other sporting personnel while attending a game or event will not be tolerated.
In the best interest of our Players, Coaches, Managers and Match Officials, it is expected that our spectators will:
- remember that children participate in sport for their enjoyment
- respect the decisions of match officials and teach children to do the same
- never ridicule or unduly scold a child for making a mistake
- respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person regardless of their gender, ability, race, colour, religion, language, politics, national or ethnic origin
- refrain from the use of bad language
- not use violence in any form, whether it is against other spectators, Coaches, Managers, Match Officials or Players
- not engage in discrimination, harassment or abuse in any form, including the use of obscene or offensive language or gestures, the incitement of hatred or violence or partaking in indecent or racist chanting
- conduct themselves in a manner that enhances, rather than injures the reputation and goodwill of Greystanes FC and football in general.
Non-Compliance
Any person who does not comply with this Spectator Code of Behaviour or who otherwise causes a disturbance, may be evicted from our venue, banned from attending future matches and may incur a fine for your associated team.

Pledge
pledge /plĕj/ (noun) is "A solemn binding promise to do, give, or refrain from doing something."
Pledge
- I won’t pressure my child in any way – I know that this is their game not mine!
- I will not use bad language, nor will I harass players, coaches, officials or other spectators.
- I will encourage my child to play within the rules and respect officials’ and coaches’ decisions – no matter what.
- I will teach my child to respect the efforts of their opponents.
- I will remember that children learn best by example so I will applaud good plays/performances by both my child’s team and their opponents.
- I will give positive comments that motivate and encourage continued effort.
- I will focus on my child’s and their team’s efforts and performance – not the score.
- I will thank the coaches, officials and other volunteers who give their time to conduct the event for my child.
- I will volunteer my services and help when asked by a coach or official.
- I won’t criticise or ridicule my child’s performance after the game – I realise that good fun is more important than a good win.
- I will not arrive at the field intoxicated or drink alcohol at matches.
- I will respect the rights, dignity and worth of all people involved in the game, regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background.
- I agree to abide by this code of conduct and to be subject to the rules and policies of the club/association.
Parents | Supporters | Officials
Prior to the commencement of the season, it is essential for all parents, spectators and officials to commit to following the code of conduct throughout the season while participating in football activities, whether at Greystanes FC facilities or at other clubs' venues.
- Encourage children to participate do not force them. Remember that organised sport is for children's enjoyment, not yours.
- Focus on the child's efforts and performance rather than winning or losing.
- Encourage players to always participate by to the rules and official's decisions.
- Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing a game. Positive comments are motivational.
- Remember that children learn best by example. Applaud good performance and efforts from each team. Congratulate all participants upon their performance regardless of the game's outcome.
- Respect officials' decision and teach children to do likewise. Respect for your team's opponents - without them there would be no game.
- Show appreciation of volunteer coaches, officials and administrators. Without them, your child could not participate.
- Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from sporting activities. Do not use foul language or harass players, coaches or officials.
- Condemn the use of violence in any form, be it by spectators, coaches, officials or players.
- Place the safety and welfare of players above all else.
- Show concern and caution towards sick and injured players. Give all players a “fair go” regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.
- Be impartial, consistent, objective and courteous when making decisions.
- Accept responsibility your actions and decisions.
- Condemn unsporting behaviour and promote respect for the individuality of players.
- Avoid any situations which may lead to or be as a conflict of interest.
- Be a positive role model in behaviour and personal appearance and ensure my comments are positive and supportive.
- Be a good sport and understand that actions speak louder than words. Always respect, remain loyal to and support other officials.
- Keep up to date with the latest ‘Laws of the Game’, trends and principles of their application.
- Emphasise the spirit of the game rather than the errors.
- Refrain from any form of personal abuse towards players or other officials. Refrain from any form of sexual harassment towards players or other officials. Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all people involved in the game, regardless of their gender,ability, cultural background.
